Sometimes as I watch a movie, especially DVD rentals where I am really able to concentrate at a level that I can’t otherwise achieve in a
public theatre, I catch an unexpected bit of sudden wisdom that comes out of a character’s mouth.
I get thrown off as I’m watching the movie because these one or two sentences are such a sudden departure from the type of movie
I’m watching.. almost like the editor didn’t catch this obvious lack of connection.
I saw The Razor’s Edge with Bill Murray and Catherine Hicks last night in wihch Murray plays a WWI soldier who returns to civil
life after the war wanting to “find himself”. But this article isn’t about this character at all.
The one specific scene I want to mention is one in which Catherine Hicks is talking to her wealthy Uncle, while standing in the uncle’s
luxurious huge dining room. The movie overall is full of humor, and ironies, but these particular four seconds in this scene, deliver an
interesting twist.
The Hicks character first says that she had never imagined living in a beautiful home (the uncle was offering her a place to live
there).
Here’s where I felt my entire reality
- the sounds in my living room,
- the feeling that I got from the movie, etc..
change way around:
He responded: “You just have to know what you want.”
I must have blanked out for the next 30 seconds, because I was trying to figure out why they inserted this simple bit of Mind Power wisdom
into this rather humorous, but drama-filled (but good) movie.
It’s so true, too.
Applying principles such as
Assuming the Feeling of your Desired Reality already present and
dismissing the current outside circumstances, and
cultivating awareness of the intuitive voice
... are all of course a part
of manifesting our desires ...
But you could do this up and down, all day long, but if you keep changing those particular things that you are applying
feeling-based visualizations toward, what can possibly come out of it?
Well, you get a result that is actually a mixture of all of these constantly changing Objectives, and which probably doesn’t meet your
original intention.
This is why, on my Amazon Listmania list, I so heavily recommend John McDonald’s book: Message
of a Master. It’s a great simple reminder of the profound power of leaving your attention on one main objective.
Obviously since that book was published (the 1930’s), thousands of books have repeated that advice.
I’d bet the number one thing that gets in our way of channelling our energy and attention to a single result that we
want, is allowing the media to suggest what would really give us excitement, or a sudden supply of cash.
Don’t fall for the outside world’s suggestions for what would make your life full. It’s not your authority. You’re your own Universe, and
you’re just sharing one Reality with many other spirits who are using their power of Observing to create their Universe’s
(for more on this check out the Seth books by Jane Roberts, - Lynda Dahl writes very helpful books that summarize the thick Seth books.)
If you want a house of a certain type, then you stay centered on this objective. If the infomercial guy at 1:30am is
telling you that you can “afford that lifestyle you desire”, including the mansion they show in the background, .. then you say: “Yes I can,
you’re right”.
However, ... you don’t need to purchase their daytrading software to do this! You simply adopt a mood and feeling
that presupposes you are about to close on that home. You don’t have to figure things out,.. like what job or business you need to get or
start, to afford it. The Infinite knows what kinds of gifts you already have inside, or connections you have available to you
in the current material world, that would lead to securing the home. (And if you don't have the necessary connections, guess what has the
power to orchestrate the needed synchronistic meeting? Yep, the Infinite Source of All. Just make sure you go to that party when
invited! Or go out with your friends when your gut is saying "yes", so that you meet that person. We have to meet somewhere in
the middle with the Universe, you know)
The home could come through channels that have nothing to do with money. (Remember, money is just a human invention).
So keep a hold on the objective itself, don’t waver, and let that Formless stuff that creates physical material, work through
you.
(I bet you thought I was going to talk about his movie, Groundhog Day, when you clicked this article. That particular flick
delivers so many powerfully and impactful messages that I'm not sure why I don't have my own copy yet. I urge you see that one if you haven't
yet.)
